Technicians & Assistants

Jenaleigh

Veterinary Technician

Jena has been a member of the Village Animal Hospital team since 2002. She started as a kennel assistant while in high school and has since completed classes at Catawba Valley Community College as well as the Veterinary Technician program at Gaston College in 2006. She is a registered veterinary technician in the state of North Carolina. With a strong work ethic, she treats each patient as if it were her own pet. Her excellent attention to detail and knowledge of the field make her a great asset to us and to our clients. While away from work, Jena enjoys working out, horseback riding, and hiking with her boyfriend Darrin.

My Pets:

Jena has many pets at home, including a few horses! Her "babies" are a Yorkshire Terrier named Daisy Mae and a Miniature Poodle named Little C.

Jeri Lee

Veterinary Assistant

Jeri Lee has been with Village Animal Hospital since 2002. Her experience makes her a very well rounded vet assistant. She has a very gentle demeanor, which puts all of our clients and patients at ease no matter what the situation at hand. Devoted to the care of animals, she is a vital part of our team. With many pets at home, including frogs and fish, she spends much of her day tending to animals, no matter where she may be! In her time away from the hospital, Jeri Lee is a handbag fanatic, who enjoys shopping and spending time with family and friends.

My Pets:

Pippi, a  Shih Tzu; a Jack Russell named Pacey: Sadie, a Terrier Mix; Coco, a Chihuahua; and two cats Alfie & Giuseppe.

Alex

Veterinary Assistant

Alex started as a kennel assistant with Village Animal Hospital in 2004. Currently a student at Mitchell Community College in his fifth year, he has also completed a year at UNC Greensboro.  Alex worked as a kennel assistant and through experience and determination has worked his way up to the position of full time veterinary assistant. He is honest and easy going,  and is always willing to help out wherever needed in the hospital.  We have great expectations of Alex’s future in veterinary medicine! In his free time away from work and school Alex enjoys working on his car, fishing, spending time with friends, and traveling to the beach.

My Pets:

Ace, a Pembroke Corgi, and Bristol, a Domestic Shorthair kitten.

Daisy

Veterinary Technician

Daisy came to Village Animal Hospital in the Spring of 2007 as a kennel assistant.  She has continued to work  with us in both the kennel and as a Veterinary Assistant while attending Gaston College for the past 2 years.  In June 2010, Daisy will graduate from the Veterinary Technician program at Gaston College with honors!  This summer she will take the national board exam and North Carolina State exam to become a Certified Veterinary Technician.

From riding her horses to going to the beach, Daisy likes to do just about anything outdoors.  She  enjoys going out and dancing in her spare time.  And, she is also a sales representative for Mary Kay.

My Pets:

Prissy and Clide, Labrador Retrievers; Gracie, a poodle; Belle, a SWEET and WONDERFUL Miniature Australian Shepherd; and Dallie, an Australian Shepherd puppy.

Daisy's Herd:

Daisy and her family also have SIX horses:  Spot, an Appaloosa, Wrangler; a Paint Quarter Horse; Roper, a Quarter Horse; Ozzy, an Appaloosa; Sunny, a Quarter Horse; and Ace, a Mustang.

Kara

Veterinary Technician

Kara came to us late in the summer of 2008. A recent transplant from Maine, she is quickly making herself right at home here in North Carolina and we are all so glad she did! She is a 2000 graduate of Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in veterinary technology. Kara comes to our team with 10 years of valuable experience in the veterinary field, both as a veterinary technician and as an assistant dog trainer.  Since her first day here at Village, she has jumped in with both feet to learn the details about her position here, the daily operations of our practice, and has already become an integral part of our team and one more friendly, familiar face for our clients and patients. We all look forward to working with Kara and learning from her experiences as she learns from us!  A busy mom to 7 year old daughter Jilli, she is a self confessed baseball (Red Sox!) fanatic.  In  her downtime she enjoys going to Hickory Crawdads games, running with her (crazy) dog, spending time with her wonderful boyfriend, hiking at the state park with Jilli, and reading.

My Pets:

Rosey, a 1 year old Cattle Dog CrossAnd, for Jilli, a Shorthair kitten that she named Mr. Cooper.
