Venus
Office Manager
Venus came to Village Animal Hospital with 14 years of office management experience, although it is her first time working in a veterinary hospital. She has also been a preschool and elementary school teacher, so keeping the staff here in line has come easy to her. The majority of her management experience came when she worked for a local mission organization. In between jobs and on the side, Venus has worked at a pet salon and as a pet sitter. She has also done mission work and trips for the last 15 years and lived in South America for a year at a children's home and taught English as a second language.
Venus' hobbies include playing the guitar, singing, writing poetry (she has actually had several poems published over the years), writing songs, and fishing.
My Pets:
Malachi, an 8 month old Golden Doodle.

Jen Receptionist Jen came to us in the summer of 2008 with a year of experience working at the front desk of a veterinary clinic and we are so glad she is here! A native of Asheboro, North Carolina, she is a 2002 graduate of Appalachian State University. While in college, she also spent time doing volunteer work at the Watauga County Humane Society. Her background includes 5 years of teaching experience at the kindergarten and second grade levels as well as previous experience as a veterinary receptionist. Her comforting voice and sunny personality make all of our clients and patients feel right at home! A vital member of our team, she is the comforting voice you will hear most often on the phone and is quick to assist all patients and clients in any way possible. She has a wonderfully positive attitude that is infectious to our staff. Her love for all animals shines through as she goes about even the most routine duties of her job every day. In her time away from the hospital she enjoys spending time with her husband Bubba, their children Greg and Caroline, and their pets, as well as hiking, camping, walking her four legged children, and painting. My Pets:
Delilah, a rat terrier: Sampson, a minature pinscher: & a cat, Cinnamon. |

Michelle Part-Time Receptionist Michelle has recently come into our office and added her sunny, comforting personality to our 'front lines' and we are so thankful that she has! Her easy going, fun personality and quick mastery of her duties make her a perfect fit to represent our hospital on the phone and at the front desk. Michelle has had over 10 years of experience as an administrative assistant, and that experience definitely shines through as she works through her daily tasks and with our clients and patients. Blessed to have been a stay-at-home mom to her two children for the last 10 years, her love of animals led her to apply in the veterinary field when she decided to re-enter the workforce. Her “can do”, positive attitude, and willingness to go above and beyond for the good of the hospital and job are apparent. Michelle continues to learn more about the veterinary field through her position at the front desk and we look forward to what her future here with us will bring. In her time away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Joe and their two sons, Justin and Nathan, watching the boys baseball games, boating and water sports on the lake with the family and the dogs, as well as painting and home decorating. My Pets: Oliver, a 2 year old Goldendoodle and Spots, an 8 month old ( 3 legged!) bird dog mix she has rescued.

Jennifer
Receptionist
Jennifer started her career in veterinary medicine in the kennel at Rutherford Veterinary Hospial during her senior year of high school. She went to NC State and majored in Animal Science with plans to attend Veterinary School, but decided that wasn't for her. So, she went back to Rutherford Veterinary Hospital where she worked as a Veterinary Assistant from May 2006 to December 2007. She left briefly to move to Charlotte and work as a nanny but missed the animals. Jennifer returned to Rutherford Veterinary Hospital to, once again, work as a Veterinary Assistant in March of 2009 and stayed until she came to us in April of 2010.
In her spare time, Jennifer loves to be outside. She enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Kyle, and watching him race late model stock cars (Jennifer raced go-karts from the age of 10 - 17). She also enjoys spending time at the lake, cooking, working out, shopping, and riding her horses.
My Pets:
Callie, a 3 year old Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix; Louis Vuitton, a 1 year old Shih Tzu; Lucy, a 1 year old Great Dane; Scooter, a 4 year old Domestic Shorthair; Spencer, a 5 year old Domestic Shorthair; Porsche, an African Grey Parrot; Speedy, a Red-eared Slider (turtle); and Reo, a 7 year old Paint horse. |
